Life is serious enough—art doesn’t have to be. After spending more than 30 years creating work in clients’ homes, from faux finishes to murals, I’ve returned to making art for the same reason I began painting as a child: it makes me happy.

Today, I approach my studio practice like a game. I follow my curiosities, ask a lot of questions, and let the answers shape the work. Can I create something that resonates with friends of a certain age? Can a canvas hold both paint and bold language? Can it carry costume jewelry, torn paper, feathers, or whatever I may envision? Absolutely.

I write my own rules—just as I did long before finding a job, paying bills and becoming a responsible adult made life too sensible. My art is a reminder that my creativity thrives when it’s allowed to be fun.
