Here is an example of a powder room that's been ragged in soft pastels and then had a solid orchid glossy stripe solidly painted to give it some "pop".
This master bathroom was artistically painted using my distressed striping technique, yet done in colors that make it somewhat unique.
In this dining area, a pastel washed and ragged accent wall using soft washes of a camel tan and orchid. The crown molding has a purple marble facing while the top and bottom portions of the molding were left solid for a dramatic effect.
This powder room has a little bit of everything - artistically painted walls, a sea shell mural on the pedestal sink and even a trompe l'oeil sky with trellis. The chair rail - nope, it's not there - it's just paint.

More and more, it seems that clients are willing to make their powder rooms as flashy as possible. In this case, I ragged metallics over a gloss black background for a dramatic effect.
These two areas show a strie finish with sponging over it. The same two colors are used throughout, but applied in reverse order for a completely different looking result.
This guest bedroom was given the finishing touch by having an artistically painted border to pick up on the colors of the bedding as well as soften the solid painted brown walls.
